Seaside Festival


 The 2008 'Sands of Time' seaside festival is being held on the 31st May / 1st June, on England's sunny south coast, at Bognor Regis.

This years theme has strong connection with coastal living in days past, 'Pirates and Smugglers'. As you would expect the events and exhibitions will be over both days, and include; children's activities, art and history displays, dance displays and all the traditional events such as the Sandcastle Competition, Vintage Car Rally and open top bus rides.

Ahoy there Mateys!!

Lots of Pirate activities to keep you busy over the Sands of Time weekend.

On Saturday
Visit the grounds of the Royal Norfolk Hotel. You will find:

Giant Pirate ship inflatable
Games organised by Inspire Leisure
Lots of art & craft activities to try (make your own treasure map)
Giant games to play
Face painting

In Waterloo Square Gardens you will find Pottery Painting and other interesting stalls.
Visit the Charity Fair and Sideshow area – there are lots of games to play and Piratey prizes to be won.

On the bandstand, on the decking and in front of the Pier you will find lots of entertainment throughout the day – including Punch & Judy. If you venture along to the bandstand you will find some very friendly donkeys waiting to give you a ride.

A Fancy Dress Parade will take place from 1:30. Meeting and registration at the grounds of the Royal Norfolk Hotel. Age groups - Up to 5, 6 to 10, 11 plus, and Adult. There are prizes for each category.

On Sunday

The arts & crafts can be found in the marquee.

Sign up for the Sandcastle Competition from 12.30 pm – you could win the top prize of £50. Theme – Pirates. Judging from 2 pm, with presentations at 3.30 pm.

Punch & Judy will be back, with lots of other entertainment. See Andrew the Brilliant Balloon Man and his creations – he may even disappear inside a balloon. There are open top bus rides and donkeys, again.

And keep a weather eye out for Capt’n Jack Sparrow – rumour has it he’s looking for the Black Pearl!!

The cars begin their drive through the town from West Park at about 10.45 am, driving past the Pier and parking in the grounds of the Royal Norfolk Hotel and along the Esplanade.

Judging begins at 12 noon and the presentation of the certificates is at 4.30 pm on Sunday afternoon at the Royal Norfolk Hotel.
